The Venue

The Golden Cross Hotel in Shrewsbury, England, is a historic coaching inn dating back to 1428. Located in the town centre, it offers a blend of period features and modern comforts. With its Tudor-style façade, cosy rooms, and a traditional pub, it’s a charming base for exploring Shrewsbury’s historic attractions and vibrant streets.

It is considered the oldest public house in the city. It has five authentic bedrooms and a downstairs restaurant which offers an excellent menu and bespoke catering.

Tricks Performed by Shrewsbury Magician

Because there were a small number of guests, it gave you time to perform more of the old favourites. You also perform a more extended set and interact with people more.

I included a famous trick. I don’t use it often as many magicians use it. However, it is a unique visual piece of magic which I bring out from time to time.

There were thirty guests, this is very different from large corporate events, which can have 200 people attending or more. With such a small number, you get to know people’s names and understand the different personalities.

This was a Private Party to celebrate a sixtieth-birthday. With fine dining (ten courses) and vintage wine. Although I don’t usually eat during engagements, I did taste the wonderful main course.

This was a friendly affair made up of friends and family. It was diverse, from lawyers to farmers. Some identical twins were challenging to tell apart—wearing the same shirt design made it a little more complicated. A typical Shropshire gathering, I understand.

Close up magic and short cabaret. This is my favourite format. I perform at the table magic during the meal and then finish with a few tricks for everyone.
