Leicester Magician at Ragdale Hall

I regularly work as a Leicester Magician in and around the county. Indeed, Ragdale Hall asked me to perform on the 24th of December. This was to be part of their Christmas celebrations.

The Hall has a fine restaurant as well as coffee areas and performing close up magic for the guests was very easy. Families, couples and friends come to this fine establishment each year to relax over Christmas.

A bit of history

The Shirley Family owned the lodge originally. The family extended the Lodge due to their love of hunting hawks. In fact, the original hall was in the village near the church.

The Sixth Earl built a new hall in 1785. This is still standing today. One can see great views on a clear day. Unfortunately, I visited in the dark.

Cantrell-Hubbesty and the family owned the hall in the early part of the twentieth century. It was sold in 1955 and soon after stopped being a private residence. It became a country club and was purchased in 1973 by Slimming Magazine and has been a centre for health and relaxation ever since.

It is full of character with excellent staff and wonderful cuisine. I can see why it is so popular especially during the holiday periods.

The venue uses magicians throughout the year and has had a tradition for acquiring one for Christmas Eve. Many guests stay in the hotel over the festive period. I received the following review in the new year.

I just wanted to say thank you for providing such great entertainment on Christmas Eve and our guests have commented on what a wonderful time they enjoyed at Ragdale this year, so much so that we have lots of repeat bookings already for 2014 and some very keen guest who have booked for 2015!!

As such, I would like to book you again for 24th December 2014 – same times as this year.

Ragdale Hall

I continued to perform for the spa for several years. Then as the children grew older I decided that Christmas eve should be a family day. I passed it on to a colleague, who as far as I know, is still doing it to this day.
