London Hotel Magician at the Raddison Heathrow with friends
The week’s highlight was working as a London Hotel Magician at the Radisson Hotel near Heathrow airport. It is the second year in a row we have been invited to perform at the DAF annual dinner.
With nearly one hundred tables, it takes several close up magicians to make an impact. Working as a team, we moved from table to table during the meal. It is always essential to work together in these situations; luckily, everyone was very professional.
A magician can usually cover about ten tables during a sit down meal. It is possible to cover fifteen but this will always be rushed and is not ideal. Magicians tend to avoid times when a table is eating as this can distract from the magic. This is why we always advise the booker to add additional magicians when the number of covers goes is high.
The photograph is not good but it does show what a spectacular night it was. There was great entertainment throughout the evening.
A tribute to the Rat pack performed several sets, and there was also a great Elvis impersonator. On this occasions, there was no cabaret magic, (incredible I know) but the table magic was well received.
It is easy to get drowned out on these occasions as the room is boisterous, and a lot is going on. So you have to work hard and ensure the magic is visual and not too dependent on the patter. Luckily magic works well with or without words.
It’s always nice to perform magic as a London Hotel Magician, especially with friends. What a great night!
