Epsom Magician at the 15th Owners’ & Trainers Awards
Last night I was fortunate enough to perform as an Epsom magician around the banquet tables in the Duchess Stand of Epsom Racecourse. An event in aid of the course’s very own charity, to which many high-profile members of the racing community were invited.
The Venue
Epsom Racecourse is famous for the Epsom Derby, one of horse racing’s premier events. Dating back to 1661, it offers flat racing on a unique undulating course, attracting thousands of spectators. The stunning Downs backdrop and rich racing history make it a highlight of the British sporting calendar.
Also on the bill were the excellent Patriot Girls, who performed three sets during the evening. They are a three-part harmony group with great versatility and sound like magic, even in a function hall. This was a great addition to the evening and clearly went down well.
A lot of money was raised through raffle and some excellent auction prizes.

The Charites
Epsom Racecourse supports various charities through events and partnerships. It hosts charity races and fundraising activities, contributing to local and national causes. The Jockey Club, which owns the racecourse, has a charitable foundation dedicated to supporting communities and the sport of horse racing, further enhancing its philanthropic efforts.
When I spoke to the organisation’s chairwoman, I found out they were involved in some exciting and innovative work areas.
Those who attended genuinely liked to watch the magic; although there were twenty tables, I managed to get around all but four. Performing close up magic at pace is exhilarating, and I enjoyed working as an Epsom Magician here in Surrey.
