Welwyn Garden City at the City Golf Club

Welwyn Garden City Golf Club is only a few miles from my home, which is ideal for a Welwyn Garden City Magician. Situated close to the city centre. I had the pleasure of working as a close up magician for them on two occasions.

The Venue

Originally founded in 1923. The course was nine holes and played twice. Its length was 2,400 yards. It was nicknamed the ‘old nine’. In the early days, a maximum of twelve balls was allowed and the game was forfeit when all balls were lost.

From the beginning the course was open for both men and women. Indeed the provisional committee comprised of members of both sexes. The club has gone through numerous extensions and renovations, the latest being new locker rooms in 2009.

The Event

I worked for the Welwyn Garden City Golf Club twice in the year. Once for a family fun day and the other for their Christmas dinner. On this occasion, I performed a family show followed by close up magic

It was a summer day and guests were coming off the fairway to meet their families. It is always fun to work as a Welwyn Garden City Magician on these occasions, performing for young and old. Adults like to see small children involved and the older teenagers often have an interest and sometimes know more than you would like. It is always great when kids want to show you the tricks they have learned.

Welwyn Garden City Magician at Christmas

The Christmas dinner was a more formal affair. Adults only, members with their partners. Indeed, it is the perfect time for close up table magic. I did a short stint during the reception and then moved between tables during the sit-down meal. I have performed at a number of Golf Clubs in Hertfordshire, including Harpenden and Much Hadden and the Hertfordshire Golf Club.
