Cambridge TV Magician appears on ITV News
Cambridge TV Magician, Tj Shoesmith, has recently appeared on local media. This was after his win at the Magic Circle Close Up Magician of the Year Competition.
Tj grew up in the area before leaving for university. He now works as a Cambridgeshire Magician in and around the area at many corporate and private functions.
TJ appeared on Anglia ITV news after winning his win. Sue Dougan has also interviewed him on BBC Radio Cambridgeshire and Cambridge Community Radio 105.
Cambridge TV Magician – The early years
As a teenager, he was a local Cambridgeshire magic club member. He also performed at many regional theatres and comedy clubs. He appeared at the Mumford, ADC and Arts Theatres, both as a magician and an actor.
I always think of myself as a Cambridgeshire Magician, first and foremost. I love returning to Cambridge to perform at colleges, private parties, corporate events and clubs. The Live Hustle is a particular favourite. The audience is given fake money, and we win it back through scams, bar bets and other nefarious schemes!
Tj has toured as half of Devious Minds throughout the County, including visits to Bythorn, Haddenham, Upwood and Cottenham. Devious Minds is a Comedy Magic, and Mindreading show that has toured the country’s length, including the Edinburgh Festival.
Tj started as a Cambridgeshire magician many years ago when he joined the Pentacle Club while at school. In fact, at the time, the club met monthly at Fitzwilliam College and produced many magicians Cambridge can be proud of.
Tj has worked at many of the County’s great hotels, including Quy Mill Hotel, The Felix Hotel, 12a Market Hill, Sheene Mill, Haycock Hotel and Mendi’s in Wisbech.
He has also worked at many universities, including St. Johns College, Churchill, Homerton, Saltmarsh Room and Trinity. Indeed, he has also worked as a Cambridgeshire magician at Anglesey Abbey.
Award wining magic
From those beginnings, as a Cambridge Magician, he has received recognition and numerous awards. This includes winning the International Brotherhood of Magicians Championship and IBM’s Originality award. He is also a member of London’s Inner Magic Circle.
